Somaliland:VP meets with Former SA President Thabo Mbeki

H.E Vice President Abdurrahman Abdullah Ismail “Saylic” currently on a working visit to neighboring Ethiopia has met with the former President of Republic of South Africa Thabo Mbeki.
The VP flanked by the Hon Mohamed Bihi Yunis, Somaliland Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Affairs, Hon Mohamed Aden Jama Galaal, Somaliland ambassador to Ethiopia and Mr. Hon Mohamed Elmi Aden the director general in the Ministry of Information and National Guidance meet with the former President of Republic of South Africa Thabo Mbeki in Addis Abba, Ethiopian capital.
Somaliland officials during the meeting the former President of Republic of South Africa Thabo Mbeki discussed wide range of issues, among them the current conflict in South Sudan.
Hon Mohamed Aden Jama Galaal, Somaliland ambassador to Ethiopia speaking during the meetings said, “Somaliland and South Africa share one thing in common where peace and conflict resolution omalia’s ambassador to Ethiopia Mohamed Jama Adan Galal ahead said that Somaliland and South Africa are the two countries and an expert on peace and conflict resolution and the two countries have a lot to learn from each other.
The Somaliland envoy further stressed, “If the two countries experiences were combined and put into use it contribute in solving the current conflict and also help in maintaining peace in South Sudan and that Somaliland is ready to share her experience.
Somaliland Foreign Affairs Minister Mohamed Yonis said, “Somaliland is a thriving democracy, a success story in hard circumstances due lack of international recognition although it had fulfilled all the requirements for the recognition, he reminded the former President Thabo Mbeki that during his presidency he had acknowledged the right for recognizing Somaliland as an independent and sovereign state and it was a high time the good relations between the two countries was revived.
H.E Vice President Abdurrahman Abdullah Ismail “Saylic” during the meeting briefed the former SA President of Somaliland past and present history and the many strides achieved through the years without the any outside assistance and South Africa should play a leading in lobbying for Somaliland recognition.
On his part the Former South African Head of state praised Somaliland many achievements and also for promoting a democratic order within a relatively short span of time.
