The Vice President of Republic of Somaliland H.E Abdirahman Abdillahi Ismael (Sayli’i) on 29 March held discussions in his office at the presidential mansion with the regional director of International Organization of Immigration (IOM) Mr. Jeffrey Labovitz who was flanked by the Somaliland IOM representative Jessamy Garver-Affeldt and IOM advisor for Somaliland/Somalia affair Dyane Epstein.
According to the Somaliland News Agency (SOLNA) announced that the talks pertained how Somaliland and the IOM could work together. For instance the discussion touched the work IOM does in the country concerning the Yemeni refugees and the aid of the internally displaced person uprooted from their homes by the endemic drought which has exacerbated the already dire situation. The famines stricken families have lost their livelihood and now living in destitution.
The vice president emphasized that IOM support the Ministry of Health Development which has many pending agenda and lacks enough funding.
The guests thanked the vice president for his hospitality and thanked Somaliland for coming to the aid of the Yemeni refugees. They praised Somaliland for maintaining peace and stability at a volatile region.
