The University of Hargeisa this week launched the two new master’s program namely Master of Governance and Leadership (MGL) and Master of Public Administration (MPA). UOH Has redesigned its programmes with effect from the next academic year (2014/2015) which fall under the institutions Development and Global Understanding Unit.
Dr. Abdi Gaas, the chancellor of University of Hargeisa speaking during the launching ceremony of the two new programmes said , “UoH is committed to enhancing the academic standards that’s why we are the first higher learning institute in the country to introduce such as the Master of Governance and Leadership (MGL) and Master of Public Administration (MPA) with the introduction of these two new masters’ programmes and is also dedicated to improving themselves academically, socially, culturally and professionally.
The dean of the institute of peace and conflict resolution, Dr. Aden Haji Ali speaking during the launching program of the two new programmes said, “The new programmes would develop a new crop of “policy leaders who are equipped with skills in policy formulation, co-ordination, analysis and implementation towards addressing the complex issues in our country”.
Dr. Aden Haji Ali added, “The institute had in the past introduced similar masters programmes such PGD of Peace and Conflict Studies MA in International Relations and Diplomacy and have proven to be successful plans to introduce more in the future.
“Our students once they graduates are expected to become leaders in their communities and public services and capable of becoming fully competitive in all sectors and that they are the future of this country hence the need for them to be ingenious when it comes to employment “, Dr. Aden said
Lastly the deputy dean of the of the institute of peace and conflict resolution faculty and head of administration at the University of Hargeisa gave the new students an in-depth briefing of the new programmes .
