Somaliland:President Silanyo Institutes the awarding of ranks to more than 10,000 regular forces Officers

President Ahmed Mohamed Mahmoud (Silanyo) has issued a Presidential decree # JSL/M/XERM/249-1948/082013 which institutes the awarding of various ranks to more than 10,000 regular forces officers of all four Somaliland military services, commencing  from 1st of September 2013.

The presidential decree states that the awarding of ranks to will commence on Eid -ul -Fitr day with the ranks been awarded by  commanding officers and also the  decree states the increment of officers pay as per their ranks including  those of non-commissioned ranks and to produce common eligibility conditions in all four Somaliland military Services.

The eligibility for the awarding of the ranks to Regular Force officers serving will be done by commanding officer who will write a citation nominating an individual. This recommendation will then be passed up the military chain of command for consideration.

The awarding of ranks to senior officers including all non-commissioned ranks and non-regular force personnel was approved in2011, to produce common eligibility conditions in all four military Services; the Somaliland Government decided that the appropriate time has come for awarding the ranks.

    That is what competent Govt mechanisms and good governance is all about.
    The Somaliland Armed forces and all the other law enforcement agecies deserve special
    treatments by the Govt while at the same time paying good attentions throughout
    the whole Govt spectrum Public services tasking duties..Goods news. Masha'Allah.

    This is a sign of government in full control of its territory.The world communities has to come to its sense and accept a reality called Somaliland, otherwise they are purposely playing with live of Somalis both in Somaliland and Somalia.

    Never again will Somaliland threw away its sovereignty to another country like it did in 1960s.

    21 Years and still going strong. That is Somaliland for you. Taking their time and being patient to meticaliously build a strong foundation. That foundation is rock solid and now any government that comes after the current adminstarion like previous adminstrations will have solid institutions and a strong security forces to build on which will make it easier to concentrate on economic sector and service delivery.
