The President H.E. Ahmed Mohammed Mohamud Silanyo has established a national fire-fighting brigade division of the National Police Force.
He at the same time formed a new provincial administration curved out from Sool region hence named a new cabinet minister in charge of the co-ordination of the national Assemblies, research and technology.
The Head of State outlined in details through Presidential decree No JSL/M/XERM/249-2619/072014 the objectives of the new agency outlining the body, structure and extent of services to be rendered.
Mr. Ali Hamud Jibril has been named the new minister in charge of coordination of National Assemblies, Research and Technology replacing the former occupier of the office who was sacked last month.
Taleeh is now a provincial capital of the new Haysimo region.
The new region will govern of Taleh, Sarmaanyo, Halin, Arroley and God-aalo districts. (See also the editorial).
The new fire-brigade will have its own command and will have in its fully fledged division with regional units all over the country (as may be required).
The President felt that the establishment of such a force has become imperative given the rising occurrences of blazes gutting down premises.
The agency will have the powers to formulate to its own policies, budgetary requirements and recommendations as per profession and obligation demand.
Its aims include ways and means of upgrading preventive measures like installation of fire alarms and standard fire-fighting techniques.
The decree empowers the National Police Force Chief to appoint both the new fire-brigade commander and his deputy hence the division is to operate under his supervision.
