Somaliland:Ministry of Justice Presides over Graduation Ceremony for 25 Lawyer Interns
The Chief of Justice Aden H. Ali, the Minister of Justice, Honorable Ahmed Farah Dare, and Director General of Ministry of Justice Khadar Ahmed Diria, General Persecution Hassan Ahmed Aden, State Minister of Presidency Muuse Abbees, Head of UNDP in Hargeisa Mission Sergio Pyshearev and other guests attended Graduation Ceremony held in the Ministry of Justice.
Mr. Aden H. Ali, Chief of Justice of Somaliland congratulated the graduates on their achievement and he also pointed out that the job placement face would be working on the head of justice institutions as soon as possible.
Supreme Court Chairman Prof. Aden H. Ali mentioned the importance of legal professionals in the state development and achievement of justice and urges the lawyers to work the maintenance of justice.
Mr. Ahmed Farah Adare, Minister of Justice and Judiciary Affairs, stated the placement of the new graduate lawyers would come quickly.
“The previous trained lawyers who assigned in other district and regions are came back this is not good actions. It is very important to work in the towns, because every district and town needs you justice,” said the Minister of Justice.
The General Persecution, Hassan Ahmed Aden stated that the lawyers would be take on far regions which needs justice and he urges the graduate lawyers to continue their legal knowledge.
25 graduates completed a 7 month advanced intership training by the High Judicial Commission and the Ministry of Justice of Somaliland with the support from UNDP and European Union. They will start as legal professions in Justice Institutions to improve the capacity and effectiveness of the courts and the judiciary and build a stronger and better trained justice sector.
Mr. Sergio Pysheerev, the Head of the UNDP Office in Hargeisa, recognized this event as important milestone towards a stronger rule of law sector in Somaliland and he pledged that as UNDP they will continue with the support of Somaliland Justice System and Rule of law.
The new graduates received certificates of completion on advanced internship training.
Somaliland, UNDP (with support from the EU) works with the Ministry of Justice to support formal long-term legal education and job placement for judges, lawyers, paralegals and court registers.
