Hargeisa -A middle aged male Yemeni refugee fleeing the ongoing contention in that country is recuperating in a Hargeisa hospital from injuries incurred after he set himself a blaze outside the UNHCR compound on Monday.
According to reliable eye witness reports the middle aged man is said to have set himself alight outside the vast United Nations High commission for Refugees compound (UNHCR) but the fire was put off by bystanders who rushed to his rescue.
Unnamed medical staff said the man incurred second degree burns in his head, legs and hands but his condition is stable.
It’s not clear what reasons which prompted the middle aged Yemeni man to set himself but unnamed sources indicated it was due to lack of response to his plight by UNHCR staffers of whom he had repeatedly asked for assistance.
The UNHCR mission in Somaliland had not neither commented on the issue nor issued a statement regarding the incidence.
Somaliland government with its little resources has since the start of Yemeni conflict extended its assistances to Yemeni refugees fleeing the conflict in that country.
