Somaliland government has for the first time commented on the arrest of journalist Mohamed Abdullah AKA “Soo fadhiiste”, editor-in-chief of Berbera Today website, for booing Ministers during the Eid Ul Ahda prayers in the port of Berbera.
Hon Abdi Dahir Amoud , the deputy Minister of Interior in charge of Internal security speaking to BBC Somali service said , “The journalist held in police custody being investigated for airing doctored clip on Local news outlet “Somalicable TV” an incident in which residents booed intent disrupting government ministers to address moments after the Eid Al-Adha prayers in the port city of Berbera, that’s all I can say for now since investigations are still on going.
“Those twisted facts on the ground by falsely reporting on an incidence which occurred covered shouting protesting against the ministers who in the Eid prayers talked about controversial proposed transfer of Petroleum Tanks in Berbera”, he stated.
The journalist Mohamed Abdullah AKA “Soo fadhiiste”, editor-in-chief of Berbera Today website was released on Saturday evening.
