The Ambassador also seized the opportunity to express his appreciation to the UK government for its continued support to Ethiopia’s successful socio-economic transformation and highlighted how Ethiopia has become one of few developing countries that are on track to meet the Millennium Development Goals.

Following the Ambassador’s address, a film titled Ethiopia on the Rise was screened showing the successful political and economic transformation currently taking place in the country including the construction of various mega projects in roads, telecoms and the railway sector. The film also showed the achievements made in the education and health sectors and provided detailed information on the successful investment activities in manufacturing and agro processing industries. Invited guests expressed their delight at the transformation and gross performance taking place in Ethiopia.

In his capacity as chairperson of the APPG on Ethiopia, Mr Laurence Robertson said the excellent relations that exist between Ethiopia and the United Kingdom will continue to grow. He pointed out the fact that partnership in development had grown considerably under the Blair government and now the coalition government has carried on the development aid commitment forward and would continue to do so as far as Ethiopia continues to use aid fund effectively.
