 PRESS RELEASE

Women are increasingly becoming Victims of Human Rights Abuses in the Name of the fight against terrorism

If a country’s gross violations of human rights, the rule of law as well as discrimination and repression are common then it will be difficult or very difficult to combat terrorism. The only effective in the fight against terrorism is to stay true to the core values: respect for international law, rule of law, respect for human rights ….

Unfortunately since the terrorist attack that struck Café-Restaurant La Chaumiere we are witnessing gross violations of human rights. And who pays the toll these repeated violations and characterized it is mostly women Djibouti. Humiliation and loss of integrity are commonplace. Some were   even suppressed the entry of banks. A veiled woman of religious conviction is it a potential terrorist. Struggle against terrorism can justify forgetting the fundamental rights?

Adan Mohamed Abdou, Secretary General of the UDT repressed airport

Adan Mohamed Abdou, Secretary General of the UDT (Djibouti Union of Labour), was discharged from the Ambouli International Airport. His passport was confiscated. Adan M. Abdou was invited to participate in the International Labour Conference, which meets every year and organized by the ILO (International Labour Organization). The ILO, the United Nations agency, is a tripartite organization where employers and workers participate in the deliberations of the main organs on an equal footing with governments.

These repeated the constitutional provisions relating to the protection of citizens violations, respect for fundamental freedoms, the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, to prove that the Djibouti has no respect for everything he has ratified and the texts of the republic.
