CAPRIVI MEMORIAL DAY AUGUST 2, 2014

imagesSecond August is a day that Caprivians from all walks of life have to come together commemorating the deaths of their fallen heroes and heroines. It is a day for all of us to remember our beloved countrymen who relentlessly fought to free the Caprivian nation. While we mourn those who fought and died so that we may have freedom, we should remember them for their bravery and dedication. They were warriors who fought and gave their lives so that you and I don’t have to. They gave their lives in the cause of our struggle, so that those who will live may enjoy freedom. They fought for our country, and it is time our country should unite to mourn and remember their contributions towards the struggle.

Let me remind you all that our country, the Caprivi Strip is not free. We all made this journey of liberating our territory for a reason. It is humbling to know that as a people you all took this journey of liberating the Caprivi because you believe in what your land and territory can be. Just as President Obama once mentioned “In the face of war, you believe there can be peace. In the face of despair, you believe there can be hope. In the face of politics that shut you out, and divided us for too long, you believe we are one people and one nation.”

This day should also remind us of the milestone we have come so far, and what sacrifices we have suffered and that which we still need to put out there to achieve our goal and reach our destiny. Much has been done to convince the international community to understand that the Caprivi Strip Case is not only genuine but true. They have come to realize that Caprivians cry for freedom and independence is worthy a case and dispute to resolve. We have never defaulted in our mission to free not only our territory, but also our people from the tyranny government of Namibia. Our mission has been clear that we will leave no stone unturned in our way to attain freedom and independence.

It is also worth mentioning here that our fallen men and women have not perished in vain. They sacrificed their lives so that one day the Caprivi Strip shall be free. Most importantly, they never died in vain; they died while believing that The Caprivi Strip was more than a SWAPO created colony, but a territory whose people are proud to call a country. We shall soldier on until the Caprivi Strip is free.

We are our own liberators, the struggle continues and thus never lose hope.

Forward ever, backward never!!!!
